RV Refrigerator Removal in 10 Easy Steps

Removing the fridge from your RV/Travel Trailer is easier than you'd think! This guide relates specifically to a 6 cu.ft Dometic fridge in a Rockwood Mini Lite 2109S. Other models may have connections in slightly different places.

  1. Ensure your refrigerator is empty and all electrical hookups are disconnected from your RV

  2. Turn off your propane gas tanks and ignite the stove-top to burn off any residual gas left in the pipes

  3. Open the vent cover at the back of the fridge, outside the RV, by turning the 2 plastic screws to the left, then pulling the cover down and out

  4. Unplug the refrigerator power from the outlet on the left side

  5. Remove the 2 pairs of wires from the front of the white terminal block and wrap their ends in electrical tape for safety

  6. Undo the nut connecting the propane line with a
wrench. If the nut is too stiff to turn, spray it first with WD40

  7. Undo the 2 screws on the metal brackets at each side of the fridge base

  8. Go inside your RV and remove the top front panel by inserting a screwdriver to release the 2 small clips, then disconnect the wire at the back of the panel
  9. Undo the 2 screws behind the top panel and the 2 screws at the front base of the refrigerator

  10. Carefully pull out the fridge (preferably with the help of a friend). You may need to push from behind to start with. If you have a raised fridge it is helpful to slide it onto a sturdy box, rather than down onto the floor

That's all there is to it! Now you can continue with your RV renovations or installation of a new refrigerator.
