Head north from Parksville and you'll find the quaint village of Qualicum Beach.
You won't find fast food restaurants in these pretty streets, instead there are some great locally owned cafes. Chloe led us to the large pet-friendly patio at Bailey's in the Village, with its wide variety of generously sized muffins.

Side-stepping the muffins for now, we chose a Chocolate Chip Cookie and a delicious Carrot Cake, which had nuts throughout as well as atop the slightly tangy, just sweet enough, frosting. The cookie was firmly chewy, with a good ratio of chocolate and, at under $2, was great value for money.
The goodies were each washed down with a mellow cup of Coffee, although Chloe preferred to quench her thirst from the large bucket of doggie water provided near the front door.
